Australian artist Fabrizio Biviano has a preoccupation with notions of spent time. Drawing inspiration from the traditions Dutch still life painting and personal experiences, he uses the objects of daily life to produce self referential work that seek to examine investments of time, loss and consumption.

In the series Come Back Baby, I Want to Play House With You (2016) Biviano pits common place plastic shopping bags filled combination, in conjunction with the hastily applied paint, simultaneously speak of consumption, fragility and disposability. The narrative isnʼt exactly clear but in these paintings there is swaying between hope and disappointment – a tussle better the potential promises of tomorrow and the mistakes of the past.

Fabrizio Biviano has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the James Makin Gallery.
